Ronin by Frank Miller

It is by Frank Miller. What more do I have to say. Read it.

Not all Miller stuff is good though. All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder; it still sucks given a one year hiatus.

DC's Infinite Crisis Reviewed!!!

Issue 1: Sets the stage for the plot, detailing current situation of iur heroes, with the JLA Tower destroyed and the Trinity in a fall out.

Issue 2: Sets up the situation of Earth-2 Superman and his gang, last seen in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Issue 3: Main villian revealed.

Issue 4 - 6: WHAM! BAM! POW! KRRRSSH! KOOOM! Set up for 52 (A year without Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman). End of series.

Not very well written. It got increasingly boring as I read into issue 4. but the pacing was done well. The first crisis was a lot better in terms of plot, but badly paced.

The art is great. At least I liked it.

Shenzhen, Captain Atom and BATMAN

Shezhen: A Travelogue From China by Guy Delisle
Delisle's experience working in China is fleshed out here. Very nice read, ith interesting observations and comments on the city of Shenzhen, its people and its culture. Delisle also managed to go to Hong Kong for a day, and we get some insights into the state as well.

Captain Atom: Armageddon by Will Pfieffer
A 12 issue maxi-series created to reboot the Wildstorm universe. It makes comparisons between DC and Wildstorm. Other than that, there is nothing much good about the series other than being a standard "superhero trapped in another dimension's Earth" story.

Batman and the Monster Man by Matt Wagner
Batman: Year Two. This is a rewrite of an early Batman story (Detective Comics #36, nine issues short of #27). I liked it.

Batman: City of Crime by David Lapham
The characters in this arc 13 parts seem to be out of character. Batman saying "Hello Oswald"? Shouldn't he give villians the silent treatment when he's not asking a question. Lapham has done a great job in building the atmosphere of Gotham City, making it feel alive and sinister. If not for the bad concept, this comic is otherwise very well written.

Bardin the Superrealist: His Deeds, His Utterances, His Exploits and His Perambulations by Max

The book consists of one page strips and multiple pages stories. The issues handled include religion, and the complicatedness of comic book comentary.

Pros: Great bizarre ideas, like the sementary, and the nightmare creatures. The surreal stories like the last one are good.

Cons: Too short. The themes are insufficiently explored. What happened to Bardin's superreal powers, or the Andulasian Dog. Why feature the dog in one short story when it is an interesting character.

It is for me to keep record of my readings. Read too many comics. Can't remember what I have read.
This blog is not for anyone to read. I cannot even be bothered with the bad language usage here.
Read The Brightside of Everything @ nypsmile.blogspot.com. That is where my writings are.
